Digital Literacy for Leabank Parents
What a fantastic effort by all our parents that completed their Digital Computer Course this term. I'm sure you will have fun using your laptops to support your child with their learning at school and to continue to develop your own digital literacy skills. Well done!

The Eagle Has Landed
On Monday 11th December pupils and staff were privileged to experience the police eagle helicopter landing in their school grounds. The pupils and staff were able to see up close what the inside of the police helicopter looks like and have any questions answered about the flying of the helicopter.
Pupils and staff were then able to see the police dogs put through their paces and experience the dogs in action doing what they do best.
It was a very actioned pack fun-filled morning which pupils and staff have not been able to stop talking about.
On behalf of the pupils and staff at Leabank School, we would like to thank the hard working Police staff at the Manurewa Police station who assisted with making this day possible.

Room 8's Exploding Volcanic Experience.
Clink on the link below to watch a video of room 8's volcanic eruption. The students had been reading, writing and learning about volcanoes and had lots of fun constructing their very own volcano. The students then recreated a real life lava eruption using white vinegar and baking soda.
Have a look at one volcano erupting!

Life Jacket Skills
The students at Leabank Primary School have been learning how to use the life jackets as part of our school aquatic programme.
Each year people drown in NZ waters that may have been saved if they had been wearing a life jacket. The students have been learning how to put the correct size jacket on correctly and how to stay afloat either on their own or with others while wearing the life jackets.
Here is a helpful link that provides information about your child wearing a life jacket in and around water. Safety Tips
